THE DIALOGUE REEL

我走 是 给你面子
“I'm leaving out of respect for you.”
你给我面子
“Out of respect for me?”
“Don't think I am running away; I am sparing you an embarrassing defeat.”
While 'giving face' (给面子) is normally a gesture of relational harmony, explicitly announcing that one is doing so can be used aggressively to demean the opponent's social standing.
